Mike’s research broadly focuses on energy issues from local building scale to larger regional-level grid scale. His particular focus is identifying technologies and developing computational models to optimize renewable energy utilization through site identification and transmission planning, building heating electrification, and distributed renewable and natural gas-fueled electricity generation. Mike holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. Previously, he was a building technology engineer in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry; he is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager.
