Richard Quadracci with Professor Vijay Modi

Richard Quadracci, a dear friend and one of my first PhD students passed away last week. He was a firm believer in and supporter of our Africa-based effort. Hence, we ended up naming the lab- Quadracci Sustainable Engineering Laboratory. I thought the best way to honor him would be by writing a few short briefs on our past and current work. Those on our mailing list will see those briefs and I will also post them in Linkedin and here.
None of the work would have been possible without the colleagues, staff, students who passed through the lab. They will be the legacy of the laboratory he supported. We always thought of him as part of our team- he had useful suggestions on the use of IoT, sensors and software. something he was himself passionate about since his graduate student days. Moreover, he had tried his hands at creating livelihoods in Haiti- so he understood low resource settings
